Another children’s tour group in the studio.
Their teacher explained how it was such a rare opportunity to meet the artist, because he was alive.
The children started clapping.

I’ve been speaking with Carlos García about creating an iconic drawing symbolizing architecture.
Carlos documented my time in the studio here.
My initial idea was to symbolize architecture as a pure volume—a box.
Then I thought about architecture as shelter, and, in fact, one’s first shelter being one’s parent.
Then Carlos gave me a book that was suppose to convince me that architecture could be more than just shelter. But then it started to rain, and I put the book on my head.
